3A launches Market Snapshot

3A launches “Market Snapshot”, an information project dedicated to the dynamics of the sportswear and fashion market in Italy.

Sportswear kidswear, the map of Italian retail: five regions account for over 60% of the market.The first Market Snapshot analyses the geography of the sportswear kidswear market in Italy: the North confirms its position as the segment’s main driver, while Campania and Puglia show the growing weight of the South.

This first study looks at the geographical distribution of the sportswear kidswear market in Italy and gives a picture of a segment marked by strong geographical concentration. The analysis shows that five regions – Veneto, Lombardy, Campania, Lazio and Emilia-Romagna – together account for 60% of the volumes delivered within 3A’s distribution perimeter.

The North remains the main centre of gravity, but the South carries increasing weight. Campania is the third Italian region by share, while Puglia enters the top six, confirming the presence of structured retail hubs in the South of Italy too.

Key figures from the analysis
In detail, the analysis reveals a strongly polarised geography for sportswear kidswear:
• the top five regions account for 60% of the volumes delivered;
• the North represents 50% of the total;
• the South and the Islands together reach 28%, making them the second largest geographical block by share;
• Central Italy accounts for the remaining 22%, heavily concentrated in Lazio;
• the bottom ten regions in the ranking together contribute less than 10% of the total.

Veneto leads the regional ranking with 14.51% of the volumes delivered, followed by Lombardy with 13.04%, Campania with 12.53%, Lazio with 11.15% and Emilia-Romagna with 9.27%.
Veneto, Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna confirm the commercial strength of the main northern areas and together account for over 36% of the national total.

Campania in third place is nevertheless one of the most significant findings of the analysis. Together with Puglia, the region brings the combined weight of the two main southern territories above 20%, pointing to significant commercial potential outside the traditional districts of the North.

In Central Italy, by contrast, leadership is heavily concentrated in Lazio, which at 11.15% accounts for more than half of all volumes delivered in the area.

A strategic category for brands and retailers
Sports kidswear is today a strategic category, able to meet recurring, wide-ranging needs: from school to sport, from leisure to changes in size, through to the different occasions that come with each season.

It is no longer just a functional segment, but a market where practicality, purchase frequency, brand relevance and new family shopping habits all come together.
For brands and retailers, reading this data correctly means understanding where the category is strongest, identifying the areas that are already established and recognising the markets where new distribution and commercial opportunities may emerge.
The map produced by 3A is therefore designed as a practical tool for reading the different speeds of Italian retail across the country and for supporting strategies on distribution, marketing investment, brand visibility and the development of commercial networks.
